Bolivia's state-owned airline Boliviana de Aviacion (BoA) plans to acquire four Xian Aircraft MA60 turboprops.

The airline announced this at a ceremony earlier this week where it inaugurated a new domestic route from La Paz to Trinidad, operated with Boeing 737-300 aircraft.

Bolivian president Evo Morales said during the ceremony that the aircraft will be delivered by mid-2014.

A BoA source tells Flightglobal that the aircraft are MA60s, which Bolivia's civil transport military airline, Transportes Aereos Militares, already operates.

BoA also plans to renew the 737s in its fleet, adds the source. It is not clear if they will be replaced by 737s or another type.
