Bolivia's state-owned airline Boliviana de Aviacion (BoA) will launch flights on its first intercontinental route between Santa Cruz and Madrid on 7 December with wet-leased Airbus A330s, following several delays.

BoA is leasing the aircraft from Portugal's Hi Fly, and will operate four times weekly on the route. BoA had initially planned to operate A340s on the route.

Spanish SkyTeam member Air Europa started operating two weekly frequencies on the route in November, since non-stop flights on the route ceased from late March after bankrupt Bolivian carrier Aerosur stopped operations.
