Boeing has audited UK maintenance company Monarch Aircraft Engineering (MAEL) as a provider of the manufacturer's GoldCare aftermarket support programme for its 787-family.

MAEL will conduct base maintenance on the composite widebody on the airframer's behalf.

The Luton-based company gained "first class" audit results from Boeing and "surpassed the expectations of many", said the former's managing director, Mick Adams.

Aside from its main site at London Luton Airport, MAEL has a second base maintenance facility at Manchester Airport and a number of permanent and seasonal line maintenance stations in the UK, mainland Europe and Asia.
