Boeing has completed all required flight tests for type certification of the 787-8 powered by General Electric GEnx engines.

"The last phase of testing focused on extended operations onboard a production airplane," says Mike Sinnett, vice-president and chief project engineer for the 787 programme.

Certification of the 787 powered by Rolls-Royce engines was completed in August 2011.
