Boeing has joined the forward, centre, aft fuselage and wing assembly of India's first C-17 strategic transport aircraft.

The joining took place before an audience of officials from the Indian government and air force, Boeing said in a statement.

Boeing said the aircraft will enter flight tests next year.

In June 2011, India ordered 10 C-17s through the Foreign Military Sales process.
