Boeing has received an order for 12 777 aircraft from an unidentified customer, just weeks after stating it was in advanced discussions to secure new orders for the widebody.

The order brings Boeing's 2010 gross orders to 112, and net orders to 94 as the airframer has booked 18 cancellations this year, including one for a 737 posted this week.

Boeing commercial airplanes CEO Jim Albaugh said on 17 March that his company was involved in three active 777 sales campaigns.

Additionally, Boeing announced 19 March that it will increase 777 production, returning output of its widebody jetliner to seven aircraft per month up from five. The company initially planned to return to seven aircraft per month in 2012, but will accelerate that by six months to mid-2011.

This is Boeing's first 777 order this year, and raises the company's net 777 orders booked in 2010 to nine after it received cancellations for three aircraft earlier in the year.
