Rockwell Collins' AHS-4000 attitude and reference heading system (AHRS) is now certified for the Bombardier CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft.

The AHS-4000 AHRS has a distinctive solid-state, gyro-based design that is not subject to magnetic abnormalities associated with flux valves and eliminates the need to perform compass swings, said Rockwell Collins.

The new embedded sensors ensure low power consumption and high reliability, resulting in a 50% improvement in mean time between failure (MTBF) compared with previous generation systems, said Rockwell Collins.

The company's AHS-4000 AHRS is also certified and available as an aftermarket upgrade for Bombardier CRJ700 and CRJ900 aircraft, Rockwell Collins added.
