Bombardier and the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac) will focus on establishing a common layout and functions in the cockpits of their CSeries and C919 aircraft, under an agreement firmed up today.

A Bombardier spokeswoman says part of the agreement will involve the two airframers looking at getting a similar look and feel and functionalities out of the cockpits of both aircraft.

"This will definitely benefit both pilot and maintenance training," she adds.

She points out that Hamilton Sundstrand is providing the electric power systems for both aircraft, which will help the two airframers in establishing commonalities.

Comac and Bombardier signed a definitive agreement today to work together and explore common aspects in the aircraft's cockpits and electrical systems as well as the development of aluminium-lithium materials standards and customer services.
