An unidentified customer today committed to buy up to 12 Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen regional jets worth $563 million.

The announcement of the letter of intent signing came after-hours at the Singapore air show on 11 February.

While the identity of the prospective buyer is undisclosed, the airframer says it is a Middle East and Africa-based customer.

Bombardier says the CRJ900 NextGen features recent enhancements that lower fuel consumption by 5.5%.

That "positions it far ahead of announced competitive production jets in the same seat class", says Bombardier commercial aircraft president Mike Arcamone.
