BA says the EU-US Open Skies agreement that took affect in March is allowing the shift of its London-bound flights from Atlanta to Heathrow from Gatwick airport.

The carrier says it plans to make on the transition on 29 March, allowing passengers to arrive, depart or connect to flights through Heathrow's new Terminal 5.

BA's Atlanta operation includes a daily evening Boeing 777 flight from Hartsfield International Airport to London that arrives the following morning. Return westbound flights depart London in the early afternoon and arrive in Atlanta that same afternoon.

Fellow Oneworld Alliance partner American Airlines is transferring to Heathrow daily flights from Raleigh/Durham to Gatwick, along with a daily Dallas-Gatwick flight.
