Roughly one year after taking the chief executive position at Caribbean Airlines, Ian Brunton has left the post.

Carrier vice president commercial and customer experience Robert Corbie has been named Caribbean's new CEO by the airline's board of directors.

Caribbean reached a deal with the Jamaican government earlier this year to acquire Air Jamaica, and in a statement announcing the leadership shake-up Caribbean states Corbie has "been mandated to have the airline function as one company responsible for two brands".

During a recent interview with ATI, Brunton said that acquiring Air Jamaica would increase Caribbean's revenue base by 60%. Caribbean also recently ordered nine ATR 72-600 turboprops scheduled for delivery in late 2011.
