SWIFT INSTALLATION

Airborne communications company Aircell has clinched approval for its SwiftBroadband system and has shipped the first system to Germany's 328 Support Services for installation in an executive-configured Dornier 328Jet operated by Venezuelan charter company Aviando Services. SwiftBroadband allows passengers to seamlessly use their personal laptops and smartphones for email and light internet services in flight. The satellite-based system - which is powered by Thrane and Thrane - was recently selected by fractional ownership start-up Jet Republic for its fleet of 110 Bombardier Learjet 60XR business jets.
