Cambodian TonleSap Airlines is planning to start services on the Siem Reap-Taipei route on 21 January, says an industry source. The newly-formed Cambodian carrier will fly from its base Siem Reap on scheduled services.
UK charter provider Astraeus is providing the first aircraft under a long-term contract with additional services to the Siem Reap-based carrier.
TonleSap Airlines has agreed to lease a Boeing 737-300 aircraft from Astraeus for the launch of services, but plans to expand with additional aircraft.
The carrier also plans charter services to China.
According to Innovata, no other carrier operates non-stop service on the Siem-Reap-Taipei route.
Siem Reap is located near Cambodia's Angkor temple complex, which receives some two million visitors annually.
