Cargolux is to begin Boeing 747 freighter flights to the Argentine capital Buenos Aires as part of a new additional South American frequency in response to growing cargo demand in the region.
The service will link Luxembourg to Buenos Aires Ezeiza International airport via Viracopos International airport. The return flight will make stops Latacunga, Bogota, Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and Manston near London before returning to Luxembourg.
"The additional rotation to South America is introduced due to increasing exports and demand for air cargo capacity out of Ecuador and Colombia as well as a requirement for additional capacity from Brazil in combination with the service to Argentina," the company says.
It cites IATA figures showing 3.9% growth in air freight volumes for September 2013 on the back of the strong growth observed in Latin American economies in recent months.
