Cargolux will make an announcement regarding its new chief executive on 26 March amid local reports that former Lufthansa and Kuehne & Nagel executive Dirk Reich has been proposed for the role.

The Luxembourg freight operator has engaged global executive search specialist Spencer Stuart in its search for new a chief executive. Chief financial officer Richard Forson has been interim chief executive since the summer of 2012, while two members of its senior management team - sales and marketing chief Robert van de Weg and chief operating officer Peter van de Pas left in rapid succession in January.

They departed shortly after the airline agreed a substantial ownership change after a tie-up with Chinese aviation investment company HNCA, which is taking a large stake in the carrier.

Luxembourg paper Wort, citing local radio reports, suggests Reich has been proposed as the new chief executive. Earlier reports this month named two other potential candidates for the role. A spokeswoman for Cargolux refuses to comment on the speculation, saying only that the airline will make an announcement on 26 March.
