Cathay Pacific Airways has signed a codeshare agreement with LAN Peru, a subsidiary of LAN Airlines.

This will add Peru's capital Lima to Cathay's network from 13 December, says Hong Kong's flag carrier.

Under the agreement, Cathay will place its code on LAN Peru's services from Lima to Los Angeles and San Francisco in the USA. In return, LAN Peru's code will appear on Cathay's services between Hong Kong and the two US cities.

"In May 2010, we initiated a codeshare with Cathay Pacific to operate between Santiago, Chile and Hong Kong through connections in Los Angeles, New York and Auckland. Now, with this new agreement between LAN Peru and Cathay Pacific, we hope to substantially enhance our competitive position within the Latin American market," says Armando Valdivieso, chief executive - passenger, Cathay Pacific.

Peru is the fourth Latin American destination to be added to the Cathay network in 2010, says the Oneworld carrier.
