Cathay Pacific passenger traffic up almost 5% in July

Cathay Pacific Airways' passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, increased by 4.9% in July compared with the same period last year.

Passenger numbers grew by 6.9% to 2.68 million, says the Oneworld carrier, whose traffic figures include that of its subsidiary, Dragonair.

The carrier's capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose by 0.1%. Its passenger load factor was up by 3.9 percentage points to 85%, the airline adds.

The amount of cargo and mail carried fell by 1.9% to 123,000t, while the carrier's cargo and mail revenue tonne kilometre decreased by 0.7%. The carrier's cargo and mail load factor went down by 4.4 percentage points to 60.3%.

Capacity, as measured in available cargo/mail tonne kilometre, rose by 6.6% for the month.
