Cathay passenger numbers up 3% in 2013

Cathay Pacific, together with subsidiary Dragonair, carried 3.3% more passengers in 2013, as compared to the year before.

For the cumulative period to 31 December, the carrier transported 29.9 million passengers, says the airline.

Passenger traffic for the year, as measured in RPKs, grew by a marginal 0.7%. Capacity, as measured in ASKs, fell 1.8%. Passenger load factor for the year grew 2.1 percentage points to 82.2%.

The amount of cargo and mail carried fell 1.5% to 1.53 million tonnes, even as available capacity, measured in ATKs, remained flat for the year. Its load factor also fell 2.4 percentage points to 61.8%, the airline adds.
