Cebu Pacific traffic up by 17.4% in August

Philippine low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific has posted a 17.4% year-on-year growth in RPKs in August.

The carrier's domestic RPKs rose by 7.4%, while its international RPKs grew by 28.2% from the same period a year earlier, the airline said in a statement.

The total number of passengers carried by Cebu Pacific increased by 10.7% year on year to 949,000. The airline's domestic passenger numbers rose by 7.5% to 722,000 and its international passenger numbers grew by 22.2% to 227,000 compared with the same period in 2010.

Cebu Pacific's overall capacity, measured in ASKs, rose by 18.7% compared with August 2010. The airline's domestic capacity increased by 6.2%, while its international capacity grew by 32.3% year on year, the statement showed.

During the same period, the airline's passenger load factor increased by 0.9 percentage points to 84.9%.

Its domestic passenger load factor was up by 2.3 percentage points to 85.7%, while its international passenger load factor declined by 3.9 percentage points year on year to 82.4%.
