Cessna has marked the 15-year anniversary of its manufacturing facility in Independence, Kansas, from where the airframer has produced nearly 9,500 piston singles and more than 350 Citation Mustang business aircraft.

The plant houses aircraft assembly, paint, interior installation and delivery of seven single-engine piston aircraft models - 172R Skyhawk, 172S Skyhawk SP, 182T Skylane, T182T Turbo Skylane, 206H Stationair, T206H Turbo Stationair and the Corvalis TTX - as well as the Mustang entry-level business jet.

Independence also provides Garmin G1000 avionics pilot training and manufacture of small parts for other business aircraft that are built at Cessna's headquarters 200km away in Wichita, Kansas .

Meanwhile. Cessna has delivered the first Citation CJ4 for charter operation in Europe. The aircraft was handed over to Stuttgart, Germany-based Eisele Flugdienst, which already operates three other light cabin business jet - a CJ1+, CJ2+, CJ3 - as well as a midsize Sovereign for its European charter offering. The Williams International FJ44-4A-powered CJ4 clinched European Aviation Safety Agency certification in May this year.
