Singapore's Changi Airport has reported a 15.3% increase in its passenger traffic to 4.28 million in March, compared with the same period in 2011.

Aircraft movements at the airport increased by 10.6% year on year to 27,000 flights, while cargo movements declined 1.8% year on year, with the airport handling 163,000t of cargo in March.

In the first three months of 2012, Changi Airport recorded 12.3 million passenger movements, an increase of 12.9% compared to the corresponding period in 2011.

Traffic growth was underpinned by strong travel demand to and from Europe, the Middle East, south Asia, northeast Asia and southeast Asia − regions which saw double-digit growth, the airport says.
