China Airlines H1 net loss widens to NT$1.04bn

Taiwan's China Airlines (CAL) has widened its net loss from NT$662 million a year ago to NT$1.04 billion ($35.5 million) in the first half of 2012.

Operating revenue for the six months ended 30 June rose by 2.12% to NT$65.4 billion, compared with NT$64 billion in the previous year.

The carrier's operating costs for the six months increased by 3.42% to NT$62.2 billion. CAL posted an operating loss of NT$1.21 billion, compared with NT$302 million a year ago.
