China Airlines has become the 10th member of the SkyTeam cargo alliance.
Following the signing of the agreement during a joining ceremony in Atlanta, the Taiwanese carrier will launch the alliance's common product line on its international routes and simplify handling procedures to make routing more efficient and cost effective.
As an alliance, China Airlines and the other nine member airlines will also share resources including shared terminals and ground handlers.
"With its extensive route network throughout Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania and strong exposure in the cross-strait network, China Airlines will certain enhance the network and opportunities of the alliance," says Tony Charaf, senior vice-president of SkyTeam Cargo's executive board.
China Airlines joined SkyTeam last September.
The carrier operates 51 passenger aircraft and 21 Boeing 747-400F freighters.
