Taiwan’s China Airlines (CAL) has recorded a 4.7% decline in its attributable net profit for the third quarter of 2013 to New Taiwan dollars (NT$) 1.44 billion ($48.7 million) from NT$1.52 billion in the same period a year ago.
CAL’s total operating revenue for the quarter rose by a marginal 0.6% to NT$37.3 billion from NT$37.1 billion in 2012.
The carrier posted a net operating income of NT$1.39 billion, down from NT$1.59 billion a year ago. Total operating costs rose by 1.9% to NT$33.3 billion.
For the first nine months of this year, CAL swung to an attributable net profit of NT$269 million from a net loss of NT$485 million in the previous year.
Total operating revenue for the nine months ended 30 September fell by 1.6% to NT$105 billion.
It also swung to a net operating profit of NT$914 million from a net operating loss of NT$362 million. Total operating costs also declined by 2.9% to NT$95.7 billion.
