Xian Aircraft has delivered two MA600 turboprops to Laos, the first of the type to be delivered outside China.

The two aircraft will be used by Laos's air force, says the airframer.

Last April, Xian Aircraft also received maintenance certification for its MA600 from the Civil Aviation Authority of Laos. This allows the airframer to provide maintenance services for MA600 aircraft that will be based in Southeast Asia.

The 60-seat MA600 is an upgraded version of the MA60, and made its maiden flight in 2008 before receiving type certification in 2010.

The MA60 is mostly in service in developing countries such as Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar and the Philippines.

Xian Aircraft is also developing the MA700, which is likely to compete with the ATR 72-500/600 and the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 in the larger passenger aircraft segment.
