China Eastern passenger traffic up 9.7% in December

China Eastern Airlines has posted 9.7% year-on-year growth in passenger traffic as measured in RPKs for December 2012.

Its passenger capacity as measured in ASKs grew by 7.5%, while passenger numbers increased by 6.9% to 5.6 million.

The carrier's passenger load factor increased by 1.5 percentage points to 77%.

On domestic routes, the carrier's passenger traffic and capacity increased by 6.7% and by 7.3% respectively, while its passenger load factor declined by 0.41 percentage points to 77%.

On international routes, its passenger traffic increased by 18%, while capacity increased by 8.9%. The carrier's passenger load factor grew by 5.9 percentage points to 80%.

On regional routes, the airline's passenger traffic increased by 6.3%, while capacity grew by 2.3% and load factor increased by 2.81 percentage points to 75%.

The amount of cargo carried by the airline decreased by 8.1% year on year to 123,000t.
