China Eastern Airlines has posted a third quarter net profit of yuan (CNY) 2.86 billion, an 8.4% increase from the same period a year ago.
Revenue for the quarter ended 30 September rose by 2% to CNY25.6 billion, while its operating profit fell by 3.7% to CNY2.45 billion. Its operating costs meanwhile rose by 2.5% to CNY23.2 billion, the carrier said in its financial report on the Hong Kong Exchange.
The SkyTeam carrier's net profit for the first nine months of the year was CNY3.62 billion, almost on par with the CNY3.63 billion recorded a year ago.
The carrier's cash and cash equivalents amounted to CNY4.86 billion at the end of the period, a drop of 12% compared with the same time last year.
