China Eastern Airlines will decide on an airline alliance in April.
China Eastern is in talks with all three alliances - Star Alliance, Oneworld and SkyTeam - and will pick one shortly, the carrier's chairman Liu Shao Yong said on the sidelines of the National People's Congress in Beijing, according to media reports.
Liu also expects the airline's passenger numbers to grow more than 20% this year, according to the reports.
A China Eastern spokesman attributes this to the recovery in the aviation industry, given that the airline's recent monthly traffic figures have been encouraging and that had led to a more positive forecasts for the year ahead.
China Eastern's passenger traffic grew by 6.4% in January, buoyed by double-digit growth in the domestic market.
