China Eastern Airlines and Xiamen Airlines have filed applications with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to start new international services.

Xiamen Airlines intends to begin daily Xiamen-Manila service in January 2014, using Boeing 737-700s or -800s.

China Eastern Airlines plans to start a daily Changchun-Jeju service in November, using Airbus A320 aircraft, says the CAAC.

Flightglobal’s FlightMaps Analytics show that China Eastern Airlines will compete with China Southern Airlines on the Changchun-Jeju and Xiamen-Manila routes.
