China Eastern Airlines' Sichuan branch has completed its fleet renewal plan with the delivery of its sixth and final aircraft, an Airbus A319.
It now operates four A320s and two A319s out of Chengdu, after phasing out the last Boeing aircraft from its fleet, says China Eastern. This will also allow the airline to improve its operational capability out of the Sichuan province.
With the aircraft's addition, the carrier launched a daily Chengdu-Xiangfan service on 7 December and raised its Chengdu-Kunming frequency to six times daily.
Innovata Schedules show that China Eastern is the only operator on the Chengdu-Xiangfan route and it competes with carriers such as Air China and Sichuan Airlines on the Chengdu-Kunming route.
