China Southern Airlines has deployed its Airbus A380 aircraft on a daily service between Beijing and Shenzhen.
This is the second domestic route the Chinese carrier is putting its 506-seat aircraft on, in its current schedule, after the Beijing-Guangzhou route.
The airline says it decided to deploy the A380 between Beijing and Shenzhen since it is the second thickest business route in China.
China Southern operates eight daily services on the Beijing-Shenzhen route. Besides the A380s, it also uses A330s and A320 family aircraft on those services.
FlightMaps Analytics shows that China Southern also puts its A380s on services between Guangzhou and Los Angeles. The airline has five A380s in its fleet.
China Southern has struggled to use its A380s on long-haul flights out of Beijing since it took delivery of the first of the type in 2011, due to regulatory resistance that prevents the three state-owned carriers from competing directly. Based in Guangzhou, China Southern has therefore had to use the aircraft mainly on short domestic routes.
