China Southern passenger traffic up 11.2% in February

China Southern Airlines has reported a 11.2% year on year growth in its overall passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, in February.

Its domestic RPKs rose by 7.6%, regional RPKs grew by 6.6% and international RPKs increased by 31.7%, said the SkyTeam carrier.

The total number of passengers carried by the airline rose by 7% to 6.39 million. Its domestic passenger numbers grew by 6.6% to 5.76 million. Regional passenger numbers by declined 2.6% to 130,500 and international passengers increased by 15.8% to 501,200.

Its overall capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose by 13.8%. Its domestic capacity increased by 9.9%, regional capacity rose by 10.2% and international capacity grew by 33%, said China Southern.

Its overall passenger load factor declined by 1.8 percentage points to 78.5%. Its domestic passenger load factor declined by 1.8 percentage points to 80.4%, while its regional load factor declined by 2.4 percentage points to 69.7% and the international passenger load factor declined 0.7 percentage points to 71.7%.

China Southern's overall revenue freight tonne kilometres grew by 40.3% and the total amount of cargo carried rose by 41.2% to 84,610t. Its revenue tonne kilometres increased by 17.5% while the overall load factor went up by 1.3 percentage points to 66.4% in February, said the airline.
