China Southern passenger traffic up 12% in December

China Southern Airlines has posted 12% year-on-year growth in passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, for December.

The carrier's domestic traffic for the month rose by 10%, regional traffic climbed by 0.7% and international traffic increased by 17%, says the SkyTeam alliance member.

The total number of passengers carried by the airline rose by 9% to 6.89 million. The carrier's domestic passenger numbers grew by 9.2% to 6.18 million. Its regional passenger numbers grew by 0.4% to 149,000 and international passenger numbers rose by 8.4% to 564,000.

The airline's overall capacity as measured in ASKs rose by 11%. Its domestic capacity increased by 12%, while regional capacity fell by 1.6% and international capacity grew by 9.6%, adds the carrier.

Its overall passenger load factor during the month increased by 0.3 percentage points year on year to 78%. Its domestic passenger load factor decreased by 1 percentage point to 79%, while its regional load factor grew by 1.6 percentage points to 72% and international passenger load factor increased by 4.8 percentage points to 77%.
