China Southern passenger traffic up 12.5% in September

China Southern Airlines has posted 12.5% year-on-year growth for passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, in September.

The carrier's domestic traffic rose by 9.2%, regional traffic grew by 26.1% and international traffic increased by 27.3%, says the SkyTeam alliance member.

The total number of passengers carried by the airline rose by 8.1% to 7.39 million. The carrier's domestic passenger numbers grew by 7.3% to 6.65 million. Its regional passenger numbers increased by 6.9% to 152,000 and international passenger numbers rose by 18% to 589,000.

The airline's overall capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose by 13.5%. Its domestic capacity increased by 9.9%, regional capacity rose by 32.7% and international capacity grew by 28.1%, the carrier adds.

Its overall passenger load factor declined by 0.7 percentage points year on year to 80.3%. Its domestic passenger load factor decreased by 0.5 percentage points to 81.7%, while its regional load factor fell by 3.7 percentage points to 71.4% and international passenger load factor decreased by 0.5 percentage points to 75.8%.
