China Southern passenger traffic up 15% in March

China Southern Airlines has posted a 15% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, for March.

The carrier's domestic traffic for the month rose by 15%, regional traffic declined by 6.8% and international traffic increased by 18%, says the SkyTeam alliance member.

The airline's overall capacity as measured in ASKs grew by 11%. Its domestic capacity increased by 11%, while regional capacity fell by 8.5% and international capacity grew by 13%.

Total number of passengers carried by the airline increased by 11% to 7.56 million. The carrier's domestic passenger numbers increased by 11% to 6.81 million. Its regional passenger numbers fell by 3.3% to 156,000 and international passenger numbers grew by 8.4% to 599,000.

Its overall passenger load factor during the month rose by 2.7 percentage points to 81.8%. Its domestic passenger load factor increased by 2.7 percentage points to 83.5%, while its regional load factor grew by 1.3 percentage points to 72.5% and international passenger load factor increased by 2.8 percentage points to 76.4%.
