China Southern passenger traffic up 7% in April

China Southern Airlines has posted a 7% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, for April.

The carrier's domestic traffic for the month rose by 6.2%, regional traffic declined by 5.2% and international traffic increased by 12%, says the SkyTeam alliance member.

The airline's overall capacity as measured in ASKs grew by 9.1%. Its domestic capacity increased by 9.4%, while regional capacity fell by 3.2% and international capacity increased by 9.6%.

Total number of passengers carried by the airline increased by 2.6% to 7.33 million. The carrier's domestic passenger numbers increased by 2.9% to 6.56 million. Its regional passenger numbers fell by 5% to 175,000 and international passenger numbers grew by 2.5% to 591,000.

Its overall passenger load factor during the month fell by 1.6 percentage points to 80%. Its domestic passenger load factor decreased by 2.4 percentage points to 80.7%, while its regional load factor fell by 1.6 percentage points to 74.9% and international passenger load factor increased by 1.7 percentage points to 77.5%.
