China Southern Airlines will reduce capacity on the Guangzhou-Sydney route next year.

The SkyTeam carrier will downgauge one of its two daily services from an Airbus A380 aircraft to an A330 starting from 22 February 2014, it says.

This means both its daily services on the route will be operated by A330 aircraft. China Southern says it will redeploy the A380 on the route in late 2014 as it expects demand to increase.

Flightglobal’s FlightMaps Analytics shows that the airline is the only operator on the Guangzhou-Sydney route. China Southern also serves three other destinations in Australia: Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.
