Chinese company Nantong Tongzhou Bay Aviation Industry has signed a letter of intent (LOI) for 30 Bombardier Dash 8 Q400s, marking the first sale of the type to a Chinese operator.
If confirmed, the order would be worth approximately $995 million at list prices.
Bombardier says that the aircraft will be operated by a new regional carrier called Sutong Airlines based at Nantong in the Jiangsu province. The airline will commence operations in 2015.
The LOI comes only days after the Canadian manufacturer announced an order for three Bombardier CRJ900s from China Express.
Flightglobal's Ascend Online Fleets database shows that there are 17 Bombardier-manufactured aircraft in service across China.
