Athens International airport is attracting interest from Chinese investors.

The Greek finance ministry - which is seeking to privatise the facility and other, regional airports - says it has twice met with a consortium comprising China's Shenzhen airport and Friedmann Pacific Asset Management.

If a transaction were concluded, the consortium would look to attract Asian airlines to Athens, and offer direct services to China.

Greece owns a 55% stake in Athens International. German-based Hochtief Airports and Hochtief Airports Capital hold 40%. The remaining 5% is in the hands of a private Greek investor.
