Chorus boosts operating income to C$32.5 million

Jazz parent Chorus Aviation boosted operating income 23% to C$32.5 million ($29.3 million) in the fourth quarter of 2013.

The Halifax-based regional airline’s net income dropped to C$8.8 million compared to C$14.5 million in the same three months of 2012.

Chorus’ operating revenues rose to C$413.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2013, up from C$411.7 million.

Operating expenses decreased 1.5% to C$380.8 million in the fourth quarter.

For the full year, Chorus’ operating income fell by C$3.1 million to C$124.3 million. Net income for 2013 fell C$38.3 million to C$61.9 million, compared to C$100.2 million in the same three months of 2012.

"We are very pleased with our operational performance in the quarter and full year 2013," says Chorus president and chief executive Joseph Randell.
