CIT Aerospace has stepped up financing for Israel-based Global Knafaim Leasing with a $36 million senior secured facility to fund the lessor's purchase of two aircraft - one Airbus A321 leased to British Airways and one Boeing 737-800 leased to Comair.
According to Flightglobal's Ascend Online database, the lessor has 21 aircraft in its portfolio, and 18 units in service.
The lessor's subsidiary, CIT Bank, provided the financing.
CIT Aerospace became a debt provider to the industry in 2011, starting with its purchase of a loan portfolio from an undisclosed European bank. The lessor bought up the debt positions with four US airlines through the purchase.
In 2012, the lessor funded its first new aircraft delivery with a $40 million loan to Dubai Aerospace Enterprise to finance a Boeing 777-200F on lease to Emirates Airline.
