Comac chairman Zhang Qingwei steps down

The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac) announced that its chairman, Zhang Qingwei, has stepped down to become the acting governor of the country's Hebei province.

Zhang left Comac on 24 August and assumed the Hebei governorship on the same day, Comac said.

In addition, Zhang has assumed new roles as chairman and party secretary for the Hebei provincial committee.

Zhang began his tenure as Comac's chairman in March 2008. Comac has yet to appoint a new chairman.

A Comac spokesman said the company has not disclosed when it will announce its new chairman.
