Congolese domestic start-up carrier Stellar Airways has begun operations with a single wet-leased Airbus A320 from Lisbon-based White Airways.
The Portuguese company revealed that the CFM International CFM56-powered aircraft (registered CS-TQS) departed for the Democratic Republic of Congo on 30 October to carry out internal flights from Kinshasa.
The lease to locally-based Stellar Airways has been agreed for one year.
Flights are conducted from the capital to Lubumbashi, Kisangani, Mbuji Mayi, Kananga and Goma throughout the week, with four sectors being flown on most days, according to Stellar Airways' timetable.
The aircraft is a 1997-vintage A320 owned by International Lease Finance Corporation, according to Flightglobal's ACAS database.
The twinjet is equipped with 173 seats.
