Fleet service workers at Continental Airlines have ratified a contract negotiated between the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) and carrier management in November of this year.
The contract is retroactive to 1 July 2010.
Around 7,600 of the airline's staff participated in the voting, with 84% endorsing the agreement.
Elements of the contract include protections against unjust discipline, outsourcing and furloughs, and terminations. It also covers 10.5% wage increases over the life of the 30-month contract.
Continental is now a subsidiary of United-Continental Holdings after the two carriers completed the financial transaction covering their merger in October of this year. The two carriers are operating separately until they gain single operating status from the FAA. Currently, their labour agreements are also separate.
