United Airlines and the flight attendants of its Continental subsidiary as represented by the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) have ratified a new labour agreement.

United senior vice-president of in-flight Sam Risoli says: "We are pleased that we were able to reach an agreement and flight attendants from our Continental subsidiary ratified it three months ahead of the amendable date."

"I look forward to returning to negotiations to work on a new agreement that brings all of our flight attendants under a single contract," he adds.

The new contract covers around 9,000 United flight attendants at the company's Continental subsidiary.

The airline says it will soon begin negotiations with the AFA for a joint collective bargaining agreement for flight attendants at United, Continental and Continental Micronesia.
