Continental Airlines will start daily service between its hub at New York Newark Liberty International airport and Munich on 27 March 2010.

The newly inducted Star Alliance member will operate dual-class Boeing 767-200ER aircraft on the route.

Munich is the largest German city presently unserved by Continental and is a hub for fellow Star member Lufthansa, Continental executive vice president of marketing Jim Compton notes in a statement.

Lufthansa currently links Munich with Newark on a daily basis using Airbus A330-300 aircraft, according to schedules in Innovata.

Continental formally joined Star last month after leaving the SkyTeam Alliance.
