Star Alliance members Continental Airlines and Spanair will begin codesharing on services across the Atlantic and to destinations in Spain and Africa, effective 4 January 2011.
Under the agreement, Continental will place its code on selected Spanair-operated flights between Barcelona and destinations including Alicante, Bilbao, Madrid, Malaga, Menorca, Palma de Mallorca and Valencia, Spain; and Banjul, Gambia, say the airlines.
Continental will also place its code on certain Spanair-operated flights between Madrid and Spainish destinations including Alicante, Barcelona, Bilbao, Ibiza, La Coruna, Las Palmas, Menorca, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife and Valencia, it adds.
In addition Continental will also place its code on Spanair-operated flights between Barcelona and Nador, Morocco, subject to government approval, say the carriers.
In return, Spanair will place its code on Continental-operated daily non-stop services between New York-Newark and both Barcelona and Madrid, it adds.
