Copa Airlines Colombia has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to codeshare with United Airlines.

The carrier requested permission to display United's code on its flights between any point in Colombia and points in the USA, on flights between Colombian points and flights beyond Colombia to any open-skies points.

Copa Airlines Colombia is a subsidiary of Panama-based Copa Airlines. United already codeshares with Copa.

In its DOT application, Copa Airlines Colombia says it initially plans to transport United's passengers between points in Colombia and points in Colombia and Panama. It does not however have plans to operate to or from the USA.

Copa Airlines Colombia operates only within Latin America.
