Panamanian carrier Copa and Ecuador's Tame have signed a codesharing deal covering flights between the two countries.

Initially the arrangement covers flights from Panama City to Quito and Guayaquil.

But Copa states that subsequently, the airlines will expand the scope of their cooperation to include additional flights in Ecuador as well as throughout Latin America.

Schedules in the Innovata database show that currently Copa currently operates 21 weekly flights to Quito and seven to Guayaquil. Tame operates from each city to Panama three times per week.

Tame launched flights to Panama in late 2010 and its management has previously stated it was eying a tie-up with Copa. An upgrade to its reservations system to the Sita platform completed in early 2011 now gives Tame the technological capabilities to forge codeshares.
