Panama's Copa Airlines has reported a 34.5% growth in operating profit to $97.7 million in the second quarter.
Operating revenues rose 14.8% to $592 million, says the Star Alliance member. Copa's adjusted net profit grew 45.3% to $85 million, it adds.
Passenger traffic grew 20.4% during the quarter and capacity was up 17.7%. The load factor grew 1.7 percentage point to 75.3%.
Copa's passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) fell 2.3% to 12.3 cents. Its cost per available seat mile fell 5.2% to 10.7 cents.
The airline took delivery of one Boeing 737-800 during the quarter to end the quarter with 86 aircraft. It had cash, short and long term investments of $849 million as of 30 June.
